Kiwanis has busy winter of giving and service

The Kiwanis Club of Jefferson has had an active winter season supporting local programs, volunteering in the community, and investing in organizations that serve children in Greene County.

This winter, Kiwanis donated $750 to the Greene County Extension 4-H program and $500 to the Jefferson Public Library to support local youth activities. Kiwanis also sponsored a showing of the animated film Zootopia 2 at the Sierra Community Theatre, offering free tickets to anyone under 18.

In addition to financial contributions, Kiwanis members volunteered at Midwest Mission, where club members packaged school supplies and assembled personal hygiene kits. The project provided an opportunity for members to serve side by side while supporting a meaningful local effort with global reach.

“These projects are made possible by the generosity of our community,” said a club representative. “Our members are grateful for the opportunity to give back and support local youth and families in Greene County.”

The Kiwanis Club’s annual Chicken Dinner fundraiser will be held March 8 at Greene County High School. Proceeds from the event help fund the donations and service projects the club supports throughout the year.
